Healthy ways to get out of Depression and How to Be Happy
(Please note, this is my own personal view)
Before people consider taking the prozac (bottled sunshine) to rise out of their depression, I really think it's a good idea to take a rain check and glance carefully at the way your life is going. Please note, that depression can be a serious medical condition and it's best to consult your GP, who can advise and treat you. If you do have suicidal tendancies or considering taking your own life, you should to seek professional help immediately! The advice below is certainly worth trying firstly or to go alongside your medical treatment. The importance of living a healthy lifestyle is vital in todays society, where stress can be a major factor towards your depression. Just by eating the right food and having the right vitamins in your diet, can make you feel boosted and a lot better.
1. Drink Water
Plentyfully. 8-12 glasses a day, if you can manage it. For sure, you will piss a lot at first, but your body will get use to it, and the running back and forth to the toilet will slow down.
2. Eat Well
Eat something in the morning before going to work. it will wake you up and make you more alert. Intake healthy food for snacking, foods with lots of protein. Sticks of carrot or celery, pulses, seeds and slices of fruit are a good gap filler. Unsaturated fat doesn't matter too much, but sugars and satuated fats do. So lay off those Mars Bars. Be sure to fill up on vegetables when you have that one main meal a day. If you're obese, try fewer meals or stick with extra-lean foods. Never go out to a american fast food outlet it will only oil the wheels of capitalism, start wars and put you at risk of an heart attackl.
3. Move Around -- Outside
Get sweaty every day for at least a good few minutes. In the morning is better. It will clear out the grease and lard from your pores. Prevent zits! Get a little sun, it'll help your sleep cycle function properly. Don't have too much if your Ginger!
4. Sleep Smart
This does not mean you sleep 10 hours, or even necessarily 8. Short is good, you just need to find out when you're in a light sleep. If you're not rested when you wake even though you got 'a full night', try sleeping 20 minutes less the next night. Once you find an appropriate length (good times for me are something like 5:00, 6:20, or 7:40 hours, for example), your sleep will not have to be long for you to wake up feeling rested in the morning. A nap in the afternoon is fine, but, again, short is good; less than 45 minutes or you'll fall into heavier sleep and waking up will hurt a lot when your boss sacks you! People who take short naps during the day cut their risk of dying of heart problems by at least a third, according to a recent study which adds weight to evidence that good sleep is crucial for a long life.
5. Learn How to Fight
If you can't rile yourself up, you're gonna be in trouble. If you can't figure out the right time to rile yourself up, you're still gonna be in trouble. Be sure to use this wisely, and not keep yourself going for too long, otherwise that stress build-up will knock you around. Take up karate, this will build your confidence, get you fit and enhance your mind. Don't be violent, just stand up for your rights and beliefs without resorting to physical harm or verbal abuse.
6. Remove the Biggest Problems
Take that fight and aim it at the biggest problems in your life, if you feel you have something significant in your way. Remember that you can always succeed as long as you've set the right goal. Take control or find help. This applies to everything including abusive relationships, smarmy egotistical bosses, drug addictions, or sitting in front of the TV/computer all day (or in other words, if 'inexplicable' depression is your big problem. In this case, be sure to take a lot of notice to the next point.
7. Find Something To Do
Without big problems to focus on, you need to give yourself some smaller problems. Find a job and stick with at least one serious hobby. Your job should have only one or two major projects required of you. Give yourself time to practice a hobby significantly for at least an hour each day. Further, focus on thinking about getting these things done successfully when you aren't actually doing them. Learn to play an instrument, get an allotment plot, walk a dog or knit a bobble hat!
8. Forget About Failures
No one cares if you think you're a failure or if you've made mistakes. Move forward, because remembering the bad is only going to bring you back down. Write these things down and hide them away. If you need to remember what happened before, re-read what you've got and take a look to see if what's ahead of you avoids the same old situations. Be honest with yourself and others about your addictions, you will only make yourself feel like a hypocritical fool when the truth is exposed. Especially when your involved in advising people with the same addictions. People respect the truth and the manipulation of others for the benefit of yourself is the wrong road to happiness.
9. Smile & Dance
Smile as much as possible, even if you hate it, smile gleefully. Dance around the house, naked if you have to, if you can't dance, just fucking pogo, but watchout for low door frames.
10. Meditate
Happyiness is after all in your mind, not in a big fat cigar or big car. So learn to control your mind through meditation, empty your mind full of all the rubbish and set yourself free.
Good Luck
